In Summer 2022 we intend cutting our ties with work and school and spending the year sailing across the Atlantic to the Caribbean, before heading North as far as New York before heading East again back across the Atlantic in order to return home for the boys to start school in September 2023.

Unfortunately there is no pot of money ripe for raiding and so careful thought will need to be done as to how we can afford to take this gap year away from paid employment (if at all possible) and how to afford a boat in the first place!

Of course beyond that there is: how does one go about buying a boat? Insuring one? Maintaining one? Running one? Docking one?  And then what about homeschooling children how do you even do that?

Safe to say that there is a lot of reading to be done- and a lot of youtube videos to be watched before we are finally comfortable with the idea of letting go all lines!

Leave our work.
Leave our schools.
Leave this existence thats
