Iain is a serving Medical Officer in the Royal Navy. He has a strong military heritage, with parents, grandparents and siblings all having served in the Armed Forces.

Despite being a Naval Officer he has spent relatively little time at sea, having spent most of his career serving with the Royal Marines.

A huge fan of Jimmy Buffett, he blames the autobiographical book 'A Pirate Looks at Fifty' for inspiring this odyssey across the oceans.

In April 2019 he managed to get his Dayskipper ticket, a crucial milestone allowing the family to charter vessels in order to build up experience, and make sure they all enjoy being at sea!
